Mrs. Kane
Prior to stepping into role the role of principal in June of 2022 Mrs. Kane taught Kindergarten/PreK for over 20 years. She resides in Agawam with her husband and two children.
Father CJ
Father CJ, has been the Pastor of St. Mary’s Church for the last 9 years and the parish priest to St. Mary’s Academy. He was ordained in 1991
Mrs. Nicholson
Prior to SMA, Mrs. Nicholson taught Kindergarten and Pre-K in the Springfield Public School system. She graduated from Elms College and has a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood from Westfield State University. She has two grown children and lives in Longmeadow with her husband Paul.
Mrs. Shumway
Mrs. Shumway. Welcoming Mrs. Shumway in the fall of 2023.
Mrs. Griffin
Mrs. Griffin holds a masters degree in Elementary Education. Prior to joining our team she taught preschool in East Longmeadow. She resides in East Longmeadow with her husband and 3 grown children.
Mrs. Chapdelaine
Mrs. Chapdelaine loves spending time with the children. She has had the opportunity while at St. Mary’s to be in both the PreK 4 and Kindergarten rooms and truly loves her job.
Mrs. Fitzgerald
Mrs. Fitzgerald is an experienced elementary school teacher with 14 years teaching in Massachusetts public schools prior to arriving at SMA in the fall of 2022. She studied at Assumption College for both undergraduate and graduate school. Mrs. Fitzgerald lives in Longmeadow with her husband and two young children.
Mrs. Barnhart

Mrs. Barnhart holds a degree in Mass Communications from Westfield State University and has worked as a teachers aide for many years. Mrs. Barnhart resides in Longmeadow with her husband and two sons.
Ms. Wasiuk
Ms. Wasiuk graduated from Assumption College. She has over 19 years of teaching experience and loves teaching at the Kindergarten level.
Mrs. Hussey
Mrs. Hussey graduated from the University of Maine with a Bachelor’s degree in Communications. She has been teaching at the Academy for over 14 years!
Ms. Landry
Ms. Landry received her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and Mathematics from Stonehill College. Ms. Landry also has her Masters in the Art of Teaching Mathematics from Western New England University.
Ms. Sawyer
Ms. Sawyer received her Para Professional Certificate from STCC. She is a fantastic addition to the first grade class and brings lots of energy and creativity to the room.
Mrs. Widmer
Mrs. Widmer has her Master’s Degree in Elementary Education with a reading concentration from Westfield State University. Mrs. Widmer has been teaching at St. Mary’s Academy for over 15 years!
Ms. Macero
We welcomed Ms. Macero in the fall of 2023. Ms. Macero holds a bachelors in education from Westfield State College. In her free time she enjoys traveling with family and friends.
Mrs. Matte
Mrs. Matte graduated from Westfield State University with a Bachelor’s in Education and a concentration in Social Studies. Mrs. Matte has been teaching at the Academy for over 25 years!
Mrs. Gonzalez
Mrs. Gonzalez received her degree in Elementary Education in 2000 and has been in Catholic Education since. She brings excitement and fun to each of her lessons.
Mrs. Kelley
Mrs. Kelley received her degrees from Bay Path and American Public University. She had worked in the Longmeadow Public Schools prior to joining us. Mrs. Kelley is looking forward to an exciting school year.
Mrs. Cannon
Mrs. Cannon received her BA in English and Music from UMass Amherst as well as a MA in English with a Certificate in Secondary Education, Musical Theater and Choral Studies. She has worked at the Community Music School of Springfield with the Vivace Chorus and Mater Dolorosa School in Holyoke.
Mrs. Brodeur
Mrs. Brodeur has been teaching Junior High Math and Science for over thirty years, obtaining her degree from Westfield State University. Mrs. Brodeur enjoys running our theater department.
Ms. Smith
Ms. Smith is excited for another fun year. She enjoys getting creative with the students and letting them express themselves through Art.
Mr. Barrows
Mr. Barrows graduated from Lowell Technological Institute (now known as UMASS Lowell). He truly enjoys technology and sharing his knowledge with the students in grades K – 6.
Mrs. McDonald
Mrs. McDonald has been the Librarian at St. Mary’s Academy since 1991. Mrs. McDonald received her degree from AIC in 1967, and her Master’s in Education from Westfield State in 1975.
Sr. Christine Lavoie
Sr. Christine Lavoie is our reading enrichment teacher. Sister Chris has a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from the Elms College and a Masters Degree in Education with a concentration in Reading from Westfield State University.
Mr. Gurt
Mr. Gurt received his degree in Music Education with a Vocal Emphasis from the University of Hartford.
Ms. Vazquez
Ms. Vazquez joined us in the fall of 2022. Her love for teaching shows through in her fun and interactive lessons.
Mr. Conway
Mr. Conway joined SMA in the Fall of 2022. His love for fitness is shows through in his lessons.
Paula Denno
Mrs. Denno joined us in the summer of 2024. Mrs. Denno had worked at SMA several years before taking a position in the Diocese Office. We are excited to have her back at SMA.
Wendy Goulet, RN
Wendy Goulet, RN – Nurse Wendy loves what she does and it shows! She is looking forward to keeping everyone healthy and safe this year.
Amy Mendrala
Amy Mendrala – Mrs. Mendrala is looking forward to another great year at SMA. She joined SMA in October of 2020.
